This is where a coating quote most needs reading carefully. Not because Singhampton is exotic — it sits high on open ground and that is the whole of it — but because the margin for error up here is thin enough that a vague answer turns into a failed floor.

Why the product list is short on this ground

Nearly every floor coating page written in Canada is written from the Greater Toronto Area, where an unheated garage spends a manageable part of the year below the minimum slab temperature on the pail. Up here it is most of the year. An unheated building on this ground sits below 10°C from roughly late September to late May, and a coating applied under its rated minimum does not simply cure slowly. It cures badly, and it fails at the bond.

What that rules out is not a chemistry. It is a shelf. Products asking 10°C, 13°C or 21°C — most of the polyaspartics sold for garage floors, including Onyx Polyaspartic 87, Citadel POLY100-SC and Elite Crete SPARTIC-ALL MXP — are summer-only here. Products rated to 0°C or 3°C are not, and several of those are epoxies: Sikafloor-264 at a 3°C substrate minimum, Rust-Oleum 9100 Winter Grade at 0–15°C.

So on an unheated building in Singhampton the recommendation is a cold-rated product of either chemistry, or it is a summer booking. If somebody tells you polyaspartic solves this because polyaspartic works in the cold, ask which one and ask to see the sheet. Better that conversation happens at the quote than in the second spring.

The season is shorter than the calendar suggests

Slab temperature lags air temperature by weeks. A warm week in April does not make an April slab warm, and a cold snap in September takes the floor down well before the forecast catches up. On this ground we work to the slab reading rather than the date, which is why quotes here carry a wider scheduling window than they do in Collingwood.

Shop floor coating and concrete sealing in Singhampton

For an unheated shop that will never justify a full coating, sealing the slab is the honest smaller job. It will not resist abrasion, but it keeps the chloride and the moisture out and it costs a fraction of the price. See concrete sealing and polyaspartic coatings.

Booking work in Singhampton

Tell us the size of the bay, roughly when the slab was poured, and whether the building is heated. That is usually enough for a realistic range over the phone — and enough for us to say if you are in the small group of floors where the honest answer is to fix the water before spending anything on a coating.
